Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT)

The Challenge

Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT) – the only nonprofit in the nation dedicated exclusively to cell and gene therapies for cancer – began funding immunotherapy research and clinical trials in 2001, when the field was still considered a fringe science. Since, ACGT’s grants have financed breakthrough research and exceptional careers, and successfully positioned immunotherapy as the most promising tool in the war on cancer. ACGT connected with Co-Communications in late 2013 to ensure their critical and early support did not go unnoticed.

The Solution

Co-Communications launched a campaign to spotlight ACGT’s genesis role in an amazing age of cancer treatment. Through deep discovery and coordination with the universities, doctors and clinical trials ACGT funds, Co-Communications identified compelling narratives that highlighted ACGT’s importance. Co-Communications brought ACGT’s brilliant scientists, dedicated donors and innovative leadership to the forefront.

The Results

Co-Communications leveraged ACGT’s narratives to generate media placements in key national and trade publications, including Fox News (national), The Chronicle of Philanthropy, and ABC affiliates in Baltimore. Co-Communications also worked to raise awareness in Greenwich, CT, which houses ACGT’s largest donor base. Placements included several stories in The Greenwich Time, The Greenwich Post, The Connecticut Post, Connecticut Magazine, It’s Relevant: Greenwich, and other influential regional outlets.
